"I Think God Just Got A Strike"

I am off on Fridays and I usually take Jacob to school and come home and do laundry, clean up, and get groceries. Well today was a little different. This whole week I have had a sore throat and congestion. I told Ruben that I would keep Jacob home with me today so I could sleep in and I knew the weather was going to be bad & didn't want to go out in the rain. Well Ruben wakes up and leaves for work at 5:00 a.m. and Jacob heard him and got into bed with me. We fall back asleep and Jacob keeps waking up because of all the loud thunder. I was always told to tell little kids not to be scared of thunder because it was just God bowling. So I tell Jacob that and he just thinks it is the funniest thing ever (since he loves to bowl to). It calms him down and he closes his eyes and tries to go back to sleep. Just then this loud thunder came that even rattled the windows and Jacob shot up and said...
"Did you hear that...I think God just got a strike!"
We both just burst out laughing...it was just too funny! I tried not to laugh so much considering it was 6:30 a.m. and I wanted to go back to sleep but we both just couldn't stop laughing. So needless to say I have been up since then cleaning and still not feeling well. At least I have a little helper to help me feel better. He is seriously the funniest kid I have ever met...I couldn't even make up the stuff he says...it's unreal! Love him!

You've Got A Friend In Me

Jacob's favorite movie is Toy Story 1 & 2. I don't mind watching it over and over because it is one of my favorite movies too. For Christmas we & Santa got him just about every character from Toy Story. He even got a huge Toy Story bag that he puts all of the TS toys in and carries (drags) it everywhere. Well my cousin sent Jacob a Woody and Jessie that used to be my younger cousins (her daughter) when she was Jacob's age & when the movies originally came out. Jacob loves them! He takes them everywhere, to brush his teeth, to go potty, to sleep, and even takes them in the car and tells them to wait for him until I pick him up from school...it's cute! The Woody doll has a guitar that plays songs so needles to say we are constantly hearing:
"You've got a friend in me, You've got a friend in me, when the road looks rough ahead, and your miles and miles from your nice warm bed, Just remember what your old friend said, Boy you've got a friend in me..."
Thank you Steph...it's probably his favorite gift ever...and it helps it was from one of his most favorite people ever!

& So It Begins

Today is Ruben's first day back to school. He will be taking 3 night classes - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. I also will start my online classes, 2 this semester, this week. School, school, school. Back to our old routine of just Jake & I. We will miss daddy but he is getting closer to being done. Thank goodness! Our plates our going to be full these upcoming months but I love to be busy. .

Last night we took Jacob around the block so he could ride his bike. He is doing really well. We ended up going around 3 times for a total of 1 1/2 mile. He was tired by the time we got inside which made shower and bedtime a little easier. Yey!

Pawn Stars...

...is my new favorite show. I am absolutely hooked. A friend of mine was telling me about it and I was like umm kinda boring. The show follows a Pawn shop in Vegas and is run by Rick, his dad, Old Man, and his son, Corey. She said it was crazy the things people would bring into the shop. Well last Monday I was flipping through the channels and ran across it. I was hooked! The guys are hilarious and you really learn some interesting history. People bring in some old stuff and usually Rick brings in a expert to see how much the item is worth and if they think it's a good investment. Since Monday I have been watched all of the episodes they have on Demand. Ruben was like what are you watching but once I told him it was on the History channel he was proud of me instead of being hooked on E! or something. Ruben's favorite shows are anything on the History, Discovery or Science channel so he thinks he is rubbing off on me. We are nerds, it's ok. Watch the show, it comes on Monday at 9:00 p.m. on the History channel...if you don't get hooked well at least you would have learned a little history.

Ok enough of that. We had a really good weekend. On Saturday I took Jacob to get a much needed haircut and then we were off to a party at the Children's Museum. We had a blast. On the way home we stopped by Gymboree so I could use my Gymbucks. I bought 2 outfits for Jacob, underwear (any store we go to he has to have new underwear...he is like me...doesn't like to keep them for a long time...he literally has tons and tons of them) and I bought Madelyn a swimsuit to give to her for Valentines Day. We went home and hung out with Ruben for the rest of the night. My sister needed me to babysit Madelyn so Jacob and I decided to go to her. We stayed the night at my sisters and had a sleep over with our favorite girl. In the morning my brother in law brought us breakfast and then Jacob & I headed home to shower and get dressed. We met up with my sister and Madelyn at the movies. After the movies we ran a couple of errands and then had an early dinner together. We headed home and Jacob and Ruben played around while I got my weeks ironing done...boo! I'm ready for the week ahead!!

You're My Boy Blue!

Last night Jacob & I went to dinner with my mom, sister & Madelyn. We then did a little shopping. When we got home we were hanging out with Ruben and Jacob was climbing on me and being very lovey dovey...which I love. He sat in my lap and kissed me and here is how are conversation went:
"Mommy, I love you!"
"I love you too, Blue." (I am not sure how we came to start calling Jacob Blue but we got it from Old School and he thinks it hilarious...so it kinda stuck)
"I'm going to love you forever."
"I hope you do. I hope you don't ever love any women more than me, ever! And please don't get married until you are at least 50. Okay?"
"I will never love anyone more than you and Daddy! We are a team...we are like the Wonder Pets! or Buzz, Woody, and Jessie (Toy Story)"
"Promise not to ever love anyone more than me?"
"I promise not to ever love anyone more than you...but I love you and Daddy the same...don't tell Daddy I promised to love you more...he gets jealous!"

The best promise anyone has ever made to me! Love that little boy!! You're my boy Blue! Haha!

T-Ball & Jewelry

On Saturday we signed Jacob up for T-Ball at the Dad's Club. I am so excited he will be playing again this year. I love baseball! We were not happy with the coaches at the YMCA (Ruben basically had to help run the team) so we decided to sign up with the Dad's Club. Ruben also signed up to be a coach...double yey! How excited am I? SUPER! It will definitely be a busy time for us with practice and school and games. It will all work! Their opening day is on Saturday, March 6 but practice starts the week of February 6. Our little man is growing up. T-Ball through June, starting Kindergarten in August, CCE in September. Man I live for this stuff! I love it!

On Sunday I hosted a Premier Jewelry party. It was so much fun. I had about 15 guests and we munched on snacks and tried on great jewelry. I had 3 people I invited book shows. After everyone put their orders in my jewelry lady told me I had about $350.00 worth of FREE jewelry to pick out. SWEET! I had fun picking out all the pieces I wanted! I love Premier Jewelry!

Other than that we had a great weekend. Hope everyone else did too!!

UT...What Happened?

Aww UT! What happened?! Texas lost the BCS championship game to Alabama. UT lost McCoy in the 1st quarter...this was supposed to be his game...to show them he was supposed to win the Heisman. They gave it a good run but couldn't pull in through.

Ruben's sister goes to UT and will be graduating in May so we were all at Ruben's parents house decked out in all of our UT gear watching the game. For Christmas we all got updated UT gear...Ruben's dad says he pays too much for that school for all of us not to wear our gear. Haha. We had "brinner"...breakfast for dinner...pancakes, eggs, bacon as we watched the game...it was fun!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Goodbye 2009, Hello 2010

I still can not believe that another year has gone by and it is now 2010. Monday and today have been a little bit of rough mornings...none of us have wanted to wake up and get moving after being off for 11 days. We had a nice time off even though we didn't go anywhere. We did things around town just to have some fun and keep busy. We took Jacob to the movies, went to the park, hung out with my family, and house hunted. It was a nice and much needed break. Our Christmas was great! We had Christmas Eve with Ruben's parents and then opened gifts Christmas morning and then headed to my parents house to spend Christmas day with my family. Jacob got tons and tons to things...spoiled boy! He got basically every Toy Story character, Hot Wheels, trains, clothes, you name he probably got it. Seeing his face on Christmas morning when he saw that Santa ate his cookies and left him presents was amazing to see. I think this was the first year he really understood and could appreciate it. I told Ruben that seeing Jacob's face full of excitement that "Santa" knew what toys he wanted and watched him be a good boy and stopped by his house to bring him presents was almost magical. It's a shame that one day Jacob will loose that innocence and learn it all wasn't real. I will hate when that day comes. I never want him to loose any type of hope. I guess it's all part of growing up.

We didn't do much for New Years, just had dinner at my mom's, played some games and then headed home and watched the ball drop on T.V. we were probably asleep by 12:30 a.m. We're boring but that's ok by me. I was with my family and safe...that's all that matters. I do have a couple of New Year's resolutions:
1. Continue to work out, notice I didn't say loose weight, I know loosing weight comes from working out but I am not concerned with the amount of pounds I loose but I want to just feel good.
2. Learn how to be more patient.
3. Stop speeding, this comes with being on time. I apparently suck at being on time. I need to stop procrastinating and be where I need to be on time.
4. Go to church more, I have been slacking and need to start going again on a regular basis.
5. Try out all the things I have visions of doing and actually try/do them.
6. Just try to all around be a better mom, partner, daughter, sister, employee, friend, citizen. I have been given many blessings and I should never take anything for granted.
